Working your way through the decision to have surgery can be a challenge. There are several appointments and preparations to be made prior to surgery and to prepare you to return home.

Hoag Orthopedic Institute offers you a helping hand or liaison, which we call a “nurse navigator.” This nurse is your resource for any questions and will help guide you through your surgical journey. You will be called by the nurse before surgery to review your health history, medications, surgical instructions and discharge plans. The nurse will meet you during your hospital stay to answer any questions you may have. You may receive a follow-up phone call after surgery to discuss your progress.

While the journey through surgery can cause anxiety, a trusted resource is here to assist you and your family. Our navigators are part of the health care team that is available throughout the week, working with physical therapy, discharge planners and nursing staff to ensure a safe and comfortable stay.
